Suriname stop Bahamas men in a thriller
Nassau, The Bahamas, August 20 - The 2023 kings Suriname broke the
hearts of hundreds of vocal fans when they stopped hosts Bahamas in
an exciting final round match in the Kendal GL Isaacs National
Gymnasium on Day Five of the 19th CAZOVA championship.
In a match punctuated with powerful spikes, awesome blocking and
ground defense, Suriname took the battle 3-1 (30-28, 26-24, 25-27,
25-23). That victory saw Suriname topping Group A to advance
directly to the semifinals.
The Bahamas who ended in the third spot will meet the former 10
times kings Barbados in their quarterfinal matchup at eight o’clock
on Day Six. Jamaica who ran second in Group A will play Trinidad and
Tobago at 11 in the morning for a semifinal spot.
Curaçao continued their unbeaten run in Group B stopping Guadeloupe
27-25, 25-16, 25-18. Curacao moved directly to the semis. Barbados
ended second in Group B while T&T placed third. |
