Suriname's Balkaran cops CAZOVA Under-18 MVP award
SPANISH TOWN, Jamaica, July 29, 2019 - Shaniva Balkaran of
Suriname was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Caribbean
Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) girls' Under-18 tournament
Saturday evening at GC Foster College of Physical Education and
Sport.
Balkaran topped Tenneille Chapman-Goodluck, who won three
sectional prizes, the most by any player. Balkaran all-round
ability was crucial in Suriname winning the title for the first
time in the fifth edition.
Chapman-Goodluck won the best server, best receiver and best
scorer awards, with Sapphire Cruz of the United States Virgin
Islands winning the awards for best libero and best digger.
Dessani Waithe of Barbados and Shanie Cottoy of Trinidad and
Tobago were both awarded best outside with teammates Rojauna
McCarthy and Lenecia Ellis of hosts Jamaica getting the award
for best blocker.
Meanwhile, the best opposite award went to Charise Frankel of
Suriname and the best server award went to Ayanna Pharoah of the
United States Virgin Islands. |
