BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 10, 2015 - Trinidad & Tobago boys
along with the United Virgin Islands scored crucial wins on the
finals preliminary day of the 10th CAZOVA junior championships
to advance to the quarterfinals at the Wildey Gym, Bridgetown.
Curaçao ended Group A unbeaten to take the direct trip to
Saturday's semifinals by dismissing Guadeloupe 25-18, 25-12,
25-16. Shruendy Valeriano led all scorers with 15 points for
Curaçao with Marlison Kleinmoedig adding 10.
Only Francois Jean Ruffe scored in double figure for Guadeloupe
who will face T&T men in the cross over.
In a Group B battle T&T defeated an exciting Haiti team, 28-30,
25-17, 25-22, 26-24 with Marlon Philip scoring a massive 31
points for the winners. Judenel Paul with 19 points was
outstanding for Haiti.
The United States Virgin Islands in Group A defeated their Aruba
opponents in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals. USVI
set up a date with Haiti by defeating Aruba 25-17, 25-20, 28-26.
Shakeel James was the powerhouse for USVI scoring 16 points
while Aruba's best performer was once again Dwayne Angela who
responded with 13 points. |
