GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 1st
2021.- Both tandems of El Salvador showed their
strength in the first day of the XIII U21
Central American Beach Volleyball Championship
in Guatemala.
Gabriel Vargas and Andrés Gómez (ESA-2)
dominante Honduras number one team of Ever Allen
and Kevin Herrera 2-0 (21-14, 24-22) and
Panama-2 of José Vásquez and Rommy Santos 2-0
(21-17, 21-18) in group D, that consists of four
teams.
Their teammates, twins Christopher and Joel
Guardado of El Salvador-1 kicked off also with
two victories in pool C; first with a 2-0
(21-11, 21-11) win over Derry Cooper and
Alexander McLaughlin of Honduras-2, followed by
a 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) against José Fernández/Andru
Jones of Costa Rica-1 by 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).
In pool A, Julián Araya and Jhostin Varela of
Costa Rica 2 also had a successful day defeating
Jeffrey Porres/Nestor Gutiérrez (GUA 2) sets 2-0
(21-15, 21-11) and the over reigning champion
Jefferson Cascante alongside Kevin Hilario of
Nicaragua-1 by 2-1 (16-21, 21-14, 15-8).
With only one outing in pool B, Carlos Solís and
Cristopher Cascante (NCA 2) succeeded 2-0 (21-6,
21-12) over Kevin Acosta/John Montenegro (PAN
1).
También Wilder Martínez acompañado por Ernesto
Escobar de Belice derrotaron a Acosta/Montenegro
2-0 (21-15, 21-18).
The preliminary round resumes on Saturday, with
the first two places in each pool advancing to
quarterfinals.
