Team Canada Women’s Volleyball announces summer coaching staff

RICHMOND, Canada, March 18, 2022 - Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce its women’s Senior and Next Gen coaching and technical staff for the 2022 season.

I’m excited to have a mix of talented and experienced returning staff and new additions this year,” said Women’s Head Coach Shannon Winzer. “We are building on last year’s growth as a team, and we are looking forward to playing in VNL in front of a home crowd early this summer in Calgary, and preparing for the upcoming World Championship. We are also looking ahead with our Next Gen team as they build a base for the future success of the program.”

Vincenzo Mallia, also an assistant at the University of Toronto, returns to the senior team staff this year along with UBC’s Matt Krueger – both will serve as assistants to Winzer. Gabriele Tortorici, currently an assistant coach with Bartoccini-Fortinfissi Perugia (Italy), will join the staff as a performance analyst.

The new head coach of the Next Gen program is Steve Delaney, currently head coach at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. He was previously involved with Team Ontario and the Halton Hurricanes (HRVC) and is a former beach volleyball player. He joins staff Carolyn O’Dwyer and Cody Piwowar-Desilets, both based B.C.

The women’s team is based in Richmond, B.C. at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
