TULSA, Oklahoma, USA, July 22, 2022 – Team USA
continued to roll through the Pan American Cup
with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-15) semifinal win
over Dominican Republic on Friday at the Cox
Business Convention Center in Tulsa.
The United States (4-0) will play Brazil (4-0)
for the championship on Saturday. Dominican
Republic (3-2) will face Puerto Rico (2-3) in
the bronze medal match.
Dominican Republic kept the pressure on the
United States. Although the U.S. led in attacks
(39-18) and blocks (4-1), the teams were tied in
aces (6-6) and each team had 25 scoring errors.
Dominican opposite Ariana Rodriguez led all
scorers with 14 points on a match-high 12
attacks and two aces.
Outside hitter Harper Murray led Team USA with
10 points on eight spikes, one block and one
ace.
U.S. Coach Jamie Morrison: It was nice to be
pushed. The Dominicans have always been a good
rival of the United States. I was happy they
pushed us a little bit. We got to learn some
things about our team. I’m sure tomorrow night
will be a battle.
Wagner Pacheco, coach of Dominican Republic: A
tough game. We knew that the United States is a
very strong team but I think we played well and
kept up a good level of play. It is difficult to
play against the United States. We are prepared
and rested for tomorrow from where we can leave
with a bronze medal.
In short, happy. |
