Teams from NORCECA to train and play in Japan
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 3, 2018 – Seven
teams representing NORCECA Confederation at the 2018 FIVB
Women’s Volleyball World Championship in several cities of Japan
will have the opportunity to play and train with local teams
before entering in the fabulous event.
The visits of those teams have been coordinated with NORCECA
president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz with diplomatic authorities of
the Japanese Embassy in Santo Domingo and the support of
Japanese sporting goods corporations as Molten and Mizuno.
“We are very pleased with the support being received from the
authorities of Japan through the diplomatic channels in the
Dominican Republic as well as from two distinguished
collaborators of NORCECA like Molten and Mizuno,” Marte Hoffiz
said.
“That’s a great contribution to the brilliance of the world
event in Japan where visiting teams always have enjoyed the
traditional hospitality, excellent playing facilities and top
class organization,” Marte Hoffiz added.
Mr. Yoshimiro Miwa, Minister Counselor of the Japanese Embassy
and Mr Yamamoto Keigo, Public Relations, Sports and Cultural
Counselor, visited with Marte Hoffiz at NORCECA premises in
Santo Domingo on Friday.
They informed about the support of the Japanese government to
NORCECA and its national teams to participate in the World
Championship to be held from September 19 and October 20, 2018.
The teams programed to train in Japan before the tournament are
those from Trinidad & Tobago, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada,
Dominican Republic and defending champions United States.
Trinidad & Tobago will be received by the city of Hemiji and its
volleyball team Hemiji Victorina which is coached by the
legendary former setter Yoshi Takeshita.
Cuba will play in Hokkaido and its team Hokkaido Voreas while
Mexico will be received by the city of Hiroshima and the
Hiroshima Bay Volleyball Team.
The authorities of the city of Okayama will welcome the
Dominican Republic side together with Okayama Seagulls while
Puerto Rico will train and play at Sendai.
Marte Hoffiz informed that the cities to receive the teams of
Canada and United States will be determined and announced soon. |
