Technical seminar for Middle Players begins in Baja California

TIJUANA, Mexico, November 10, 2016 - The activities of the Technical Seminar for Middle Players, directed by Puerto Rican coach and instructor Juan Cartagena, began officially at the FIVB-Norceca Regional Development Centre in Baja California.

On behalf of FIVB First Executive Vice President and Norceca Volleyball Confederation President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, and Development Centre General Director, Saul Castro Verdugo, Operations Director, Alberto Arreola, welcomed all participants.

National coaches and assistant coaches as well as statisticians have attended to this course in order to improve their knowledge in technical and tactical aspects.

"As sport, Volleyball has evolved a lot for the last years. As an example, there were no liberos in the game and today you have the choice of playing with two of them," Arreola stated.

"These same kinds of situations happen when you prepare other players. The working agenda and level of our courses have become more complex, so it is important to keep you updated," he added.

"The work in our regional centres has become more dynamic. I am so glad to be here again in this seminar and for me is very important to exchange our ideas. We hope that we can get the best from this opportunity," Cartagena remarked.

The theoretical sessions began on Thursday while there are also some practical ones on court scheduled ahead. The certification and closing ceremonies are programmed on Sunday, November 13.
