CORDOBA, Mexico, October 6, 2015 - The activities of the NORCECA
Men’s Continental Championship had also a special touch on
second day.
This happened after the official opening ceremony of the
competition at the Cordoba Arena, where authorities and fans
were present, along with the Vidanza Folk Ballet that performend
some traditional dances from the Veracruz region.
Also a Rock mini-concert took part by the local band Revolver.
The Mayor of Cordoba, Jaime Rios Tomas Bernal, who delivered a
message to the audience also declared the official inauguration.
"We are proud to strengthen ties of friendship with the
competing nations at this tournament. Please, don’t feel linke
strangers in our land because you are already are part of
Cordoba and part of our family."
The mayor thanked the people and sponsors who have added great
efforts for the realization of this competition.
On behalf of the Mexican Volleyball Federation, President Jesus
Perales Navarro addressed: "I want to congratulate you for being
here at this classification tournament for the Olympic
qualifiers and also want to congratulate Mayor Rios for the
effort to develop this competition, as well as Cesar Osuna,
President of the Control Committee, as well as the Director of
the Veracruz Sports Institute, Carlos Sosa Ahumada."
Norceca Control Committee President, César Osuna, shared a
special greeting to the authorities representing the
Confederation President and FIVB First Executive Vice President,
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz.
"We want to thank community of Cordoba for hosting the
Pre-Olympic qualifier in which seven countries seek their ticket
to the Final Four tournament," Osuna said.
"We have seen a magnific organization and were received with
good attentions by the local organizing committee in terms of
lodging, communication, transportation. And also matches have
been played in such a great quality class facility. Once again,
Córdoba has also shown that can organize any international
event," he said.
The players oath was mentioned by the Mexican Team captain,
Jorge Barajas, while on behalf of the judges Mexican referee
Saul Sosa delivered the oath.
The opening ceremony also involved a fireworks show, along with
a performance by the Vidanza Ballet, that gave a nostalgic
atmosphere that reminded the celebration of the Central American
and Caribbean Games of Veracruz 2014. |
