TOKYO, Japan, May 18, 2016 - The Netherlands captured its third
victory at the Women’s World Olympic Volleyball Qualification
Tournament a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) win over the Dominican
Republic, who is still chasing its first triumph in the
competition after four outings.
Lonneke Sloetjes was the leading scorer for the winners with 17
points, while Anne Buijs and Yvon Belien contributed 11 and 10
points, respectively, in the victory.
On the other side of the net, 19-year-old Brayelin Martinez
continued her outstanding tournament with 18 points, while
Prisilla Rivera added 11 of her own.
Dominican Republic Libero, Brenda Castillo came into this week
already with a reputation as one of the best Liberos in the
world, and after three reasonable opening games, she put on a
show for the crowd but her heroics could not lift her team.
Dominican player Brayelin Martinez - “We are getting better and
getting our form back but at crucial moments we could not make
the plays.”
“We didn't have enough time to prepare for this tournament. This
is why are combinations are not good.” |
