MORELIA, Mexico, September 26, 2015. - Finishing among the top
four teams is the coaches’ main goal at the NORCECA Women’s
Continental Championship as they aim to qualify to the
Pre-Olympic tournament.
The top four teams in the final ranking of the event that runs
from September 27 to October 2 will advance to NORCECA Olympic
Qualification Tournament that grants a direct ticket to the Rio
2016 Olympic Games.
The preliminary inquiries and the general technical meeting took
place at the Real Inn Hotel, where coaches had the opportunity
to share their opinions of the competition ahead of them.

“We’ve had nine weeks of preparation and we have worked really
hard, we are ready for the tournament and of course we want to
finish in the top four”.
Costa Rica head coach Braulio Godinez
“We are realistic; every team here is taking part of the Olympic
qualification, they are at a different competitive level than we
are. We are in a changing process and the idea is for our team
to grow. At the conclusion of the event, we will analyze all the
positive results to continue our own process at a Central
American level”.
Cuba head coach Roberto Garcia
“The top eight of our confederation are here so we expect a
tough competition, but our hopes are high in reaching the
Olympic qualification”.
Dominican Republic head coach Marcos Kwiek
“Previous to compete at World Cup, our preparation was very
good, coming back from Japan some players had time to rest and
others incorporated to our junior national team for the world
championship, so I consider the team is in good physical
conditions. Dominican Republic always plays to win and to its
best performing level, but our main goal is qualifying to the
Pre-Olympic tournament”.

is to qualify for the Pre-Olympic event. I am pleased with the

transcend”.

weeks that I have been in charge of coaching the team; we are
clear that our main objective is winning one of the four spots
for the Pre-Olympic tournament”.
Trinidad and Tobago head coach Idalmis Gato
“We have a renovated team with young players who are developing
and we need to see how they evolve during the tournament with a
couple of more experienced players. We expect to contribute to
our own growth as a national team; this is the first
international experience for some of the players. We hope to
have a better performance than the past ones”.
United States head coach Karch Kiraly
“At the World Cup we learned some valuable lessons, our training
has been good and overall we are excited to play our zone
championship”. |
