Leonas
Advance to the Final Series
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, April 22, 2026. – The Women’s Superior
Volleyball League (LVSF) will crown a new champion this season after
the Leonas de Ponce secured their place in the Final Series with a
3-0 victory (25-22, 25-11, 25-15) over the defending champions,
Criollas de Caguas, in the decisive seventh match played Monday
night at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum.
Ponce rallied from behind in the semifinal series and, with two
consecutive straight-set wins, completed the comeback to advance to
the championship round. They will now face the Cangrejeras de
Santurce in a best-of-seven series, where the first team to reach
four victories will be crowned the new champion of Puerto Rican
women’s volleyball.
Ponce’s offense was led by Claire Chaussee with 18 points, followed
by Sherridan Atkinson and Nataly García with 14 points each, and
Abby Akey with 10.
For
Caguas, no player reached double figures in scoring; Temi Tomas
Ailara led the team with 9 points.
In
team statistics, Ponce outperformed Caguas 56-29 in attacks, 5-4 in
blocks, 63-53 in digs, 27-26 in receptions, and 13-6 in assists.
Caguas led in service aces, 2-1.
