TOKYO, Japan, July 27, 2021 – Jordan Thompson
exploded with 34 points as United States
defeated reigning Olympic champions China 3-0
(29-27, 25-22, 25-21) in Pool B of the women’s
volleyball tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Games on
Tuesday.
It was the second victory in as many outings for
the American side while China fell to 0-2 after
losing also to Turkey on opening day.
In her amazing game, Thompson had 4 blocks and 2
aces, while Michelle Bartsch-Hackley and Jordan
Thompson contributed 15 and 12 points,
respectively, in the victory. Zhu Ting led China
with 18 points, followed by Li Yingying with 11
of her own. |
