Thousands followed stream video of NORCECA U18
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, July 2, 2014 – The recently concluded
NORCECA Girls’U18 Continental Championship generated impressive
interest from the volleyball fans reflected in the stats
released by the organizers on Tuesday.
The event was covered by local media, international agencies,
websites of NORCECA and FIVB and different sites dedicated to
the sport of volleyball.
One important aspect to be highlighted was the role played by
the social media which created a big impact in the volleyball
community as it was the many goals self imposed by the Costa
Rican National Federation.
“The event contributed to generate awareness toward our sport,”
Jose Luis Jimenez Lao, President of the Federation said. “Along
with the traditional media, the social media played an important
role and we are very proud to announce the figures achieved.”
All the matches were live streamed and a total of 18,928
followed the action during the six-day tournament. The peaks
were reached on the third day (end of the preliminary round)
with 4,924 followers and the sixth day (medal matches) with
4,164.
The progression of the 18 matches was twitted through @NorcecaInfo,
with a total of 255 tweets for an average of 14 per game. |
