Top-Ranked Women's Teams Open with Victories in Roatán
ROATÁN, Honduras, July 10, 2026. – The top three teams in the
2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Women's Rankings—United
States, Canada, and Mexico—opened their campaigns with victories
at the Seventh Stop of the circuit, being held at Tabyana Beach
in West Bay, Roatán.
Americans Sarah Wood and Taylor Hagenah, representing the tour's
top-ranked team, defeated Nicaragua's López/Lolette 2-0 (21-8,
21-14) in Pool A. Later, López/Lolette rebounded to defeat the
U.S. Virgin Islands' Austin/Bennett 2-1 (18-21, 21-10, 15-8).
In Pool B, Canada's Emma Cudmore and Dana Roskic, ranked second
this season, cruised past Honduras' Murillo/Rodríguez 2-0 (21-6,
21-5). In the other pool match, Guatemala's Alvarado/Mendoza
also defeated the host pair 2-0 (21-14, 21-10).
Mexico, ranked third, enjoyed a perfect start in Pool D. Susana
Torres and Abril Flores defeated the Dominican Republic's Payano/Paniagua
2-0 (21-16, 21-14) before posting another straight-set victory
over Honduras' Rivera/Hynds, 2-0 (21-11, 21-15).
Pool C also features two undefeated teams.
Puerto Rico's María González/Allanis Navas and Costa Rica's
María Araya/Eugenia Ramírez each earned victories over Honduras'
Reizel Bruhier/Sharis Briceño and El Salvador's Gabriela
Flores/Adriana Vargas.
Women's competition resumes Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the final
pool matches that will determine the group winners. The United
States will face the U.S. Virgin Islands in Pool A, Canada will
take on Guatemala for first place in Pool B, and Puerto Rico
will meet Costa Rica for the top spot in Pool C.
Quarterfinal matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
