TTO start their defense convincingly
PARAMARIBO, Suriname, June 30,
2018 – The first match in the CAZOVA
(Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association) Women’s Championship
turned out to be an easy game for the Calypso spikers of
Trinidad and Tobago at the Ismay van Wilgen Sport Hall,
in Suriname, winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-12).
Channon Thompson and Jalicia
Ross-Kidd contributed to the victory with 13 and 12 points,
respectively.
Trinidad and
Tobago started slowly even though they kept the lead through-out
the set, while Bahamas got most of their points from their
opponent errors. The second and third sets were dominated by
team TTO and only needed 60 minutes to complete the game.
Margarett Albury
still deputizing for their head coach as he had a flight delay
said that the team service and reception are where her team made
the major errors. They had the momentum until the first
technical time out in each set but couldn’t continue further.
Bahamas team
captain Brittany Bonamy was a bit satisfied in her team
performance playing against Trinidad and Tobago who is a more
superior team to theirs, however my girls need to improve in
their ability to convert their attack into points.
Renele Forde, TTO
captain that they got a slow start but as the game progressed
they improved. We got a chance to use some of our
“bench-players” and they performed creditably. We hope to
step-up in our performance as the tournament progressed.
Francisco Cruz,
said he used players in different positions from their regular
line-up and we also used some new players to give them an
opportunity to work a different game plan. IT worked well and I
am pleased with their performance. |
