Trinidadians enjoy Victory against Victorina
HIMEJI, Japan, September 22, 2018 - The Calypso Spikers won
their first match against Pro Team Victorina 2-1(16-25, 25-18,
27-25) in their training camp ahead of the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball World Championship at Victorina Arena in the City of
Himeji on Saturday.
Top scorers Shannon "the Cannon" Thompson and Sinead "Hammer"
Jack showed the Japanese team why they got those nicknames ,
scoring 13 points each as they dominated from the serving line
and the net with blocks and attack .
Sinead Jack said "we started off pretty slow but we
gradually adjusted to the team and their sets.”
Victorina ladies came out with a die-hard spirit and kept the
fight to TTO ladies who relied 6-2 in aces and 9-2 blocks keep
us ahead of thto maintain the lead.
The victory was the first for TTO ladies on Japanese soil and
they are eager for more going forward, Coach
Cruz said "My main purpose today was the put players in
different positions and make changes to give everyone
the experience but i am happy for the win."
The team left in high spirits looking forward to a rest this
weekend doing some sightseeing before taking on Victorina in
the following week before moving on the World Championship in
Kobe. |
