Trinidadians score second victory in Pool Q
HAVANA, Cuba, May 15, 2014 – Trinidad and Tobago claimed their
second victory at the FIVB Women’s World Championship NORCECA
Pool Q Qualification Tournament with a 3-1 win over Curacao on
Thursday.
The Trinidadians (2-0) won 25-15, 22-25, 25-9, 25-18 with
Jalicia Ross-Kydd leading the attack with a tournament-high 26
points.
Jack Sinead contributed 13 points in the victory while Krystle
Esdelle added 12. Curacao’s Christine Anthony topped the
defeated side with 19 points.
Francisco Cruz, coach of the Trinidadians said he wasn’t
concerned about losing one set today and also against Haiti
“because I am testing all my players since this is the first
tournament of the year and then be prepared to face Cuba in the
final two days.”
Kelly-Anne Billingy, the captain who today celebrated her 28th
birthday, said to be glad “because we played together in
anticipation to the next two matches.”
Henry Delfina, coach of Curacao, was disappointed for not
hurting the rivals “because we lacked effort and dedication to
take advantage of the opponent’s errors.”
The captain Christine Anthnoy said the effort “was not enough,
but my team was better than yesterday.” |
