Turkey defeats Dominican Republic in VNL
BANGKOK, Thailand, June 4, 2019 - Turkey stayed atop of the
Women's Volleyball League of Nations rankings by defeating
Dominican Republic 3-1 on Tuesday (25-20, 25-21, 26-24, 25 -18)
at the start of the third round of the world event.
Turkey (6-1) was led by Yilmaz Gozde and Baladin Hande with 22
and 18 points, respectively. For the Dominican Republic (3-4)
the best were Bethania de la Cruz (17) and Brayelin Martínez
(16).
Now Turkey has won in seven of the 8 confrontations with the
Dominican Republic in FIVB events. The Caribbean women have won
at least one set in their last eight games (seven this year) of
the VNL after having been beaten in straight sets in seven of
their first 13.
On Wednesday the Turkish team meets Bulgaria while the Dominican
squad clashes with Thailand. |
