Tijuana, Mexico, October 11, 2013 - Turkey will play for the
fifth place at FIVB Womens U23 World Championship on Saturday,
after beating Germany 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-19).
Turkish captain Gözde Yimlaz scored 16 points and Özge Nur
Yurtdagülen finished with 11. On the German side, Katharida
Schwabe closed with 11 and captain Jennifer Geerties with 5.
Gözde Yilmaz, captain of Turkey: Its not easy to play against
Germany, because they are a very strong team and keep fighting
until the end. We had to serve well and never lose control.
Mehme Bedestenlioglu, coach of Turkey: This second part of the
tournament is very important for us. We played at good and high
level after we lost against a very strong team like Japan. Our
players did it well and had a good performance.
Jennifer Geerties, captain of Germany: They had a lot of
pressure in service and we had many problems in reception. We
could not be able to play well and did so many mistakes.
Jens Tietbohl, coach of Germany: Congratulations to Turkey. We
made too many mistakes on the court today and we could not even
play against them.
There were a lot of mistakes by us. |
