GROS ISLET, St Lucia, May 26, 2016 - Twelve men’s teams from the
ECVA, AFECAVOL and CAZOVA have gathered in Gros Islet, St. Lucia
to vie for the right to advance to the fourth round of the
NORCECA Continental Cup, to be held in Guaymas, Mexico June 20
to 27.
These teams are Barbados, Costa Rica, Curacao, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Jamaica, Nicaragua, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia,
Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The meeting commenced with a moment of silence for the recently
departed Moises Alfonso Reyes of
Guatemala. He was a member of the National Guatemalan Beach
Volleyball team who was slated to participate in this
tournament.
With only six spaces available for advancing, teams engaged in
dialogue over rule uncertainties, to ensure all present were
clear as to what is expected.
Mr. Julian Bissette, one of the leading St. Lucian players
stated though he has not played extensively on the NORCECA Beach
tour for the past two years, but he believes St. Lucia should
advance to the next round of the tournament based on what he has
seen.
The convergence of the three zones will make for an interesting
tournament this weekend.
