Twenty countries represented in Punta Cana Beach

 

   

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 25, 2015 – Teams representing twenty countries will be out on the sands at the double-gender Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second stop of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit.

 

Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, United States and U.S. Virgin Islands registered teams in both genders with Canada and United States each represented by two female duos.

 

Bonaire, Costa Rica, Haiti, Martinique, Panama and Turks & Caicos will compete in the men’s event while Antigua & Barbuda, Belize, El Salvador and Nicaragua will participate in the women’s competition.

 

The inspection of the teams was carried out on Thursday’s afternoon by the control committee presided over by Steve Owen as NORCECA supervisor, Angel Rivas, competition director, Salvador Bautista, referee manager, Roosevelt Comarazamy, press delegate, and Yanida Pascual, BVI delegate.

 

The general technical meeting took place at Paladium Hotel in the presence of Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA.

 

Teams were seeded into four pools each consisting of four teams according to the current NORCECA rankings. Those non-ranked teams and the second team from the countries with two entries went through a drawing process for their respective allocations.
