Two Duos from Canada, Nicaragua, and USA in Women’s Semifinals in El Salvador

 

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, November 9, 2024.- The two Canadian duos, López/Valeska from Nicaragua, and Race/Sours from the United States are set for the women’s semifinals at the eighth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Tour in El Salvador.

 

In Saturday’s semifinals, the two Canadian duos will face off: Dana Roskic and Anna Licht vs. Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau, while Socorro López and Valeska Hernández from Nicaragua will go up against Jade Race and Devanne Sours from the United States. Both matches are scheduled for 10:00 a.m.

 

Canada’s Dana Roskic and Anna Licht advanced to the semifinals with a comfortable 2-0 (21-10, 21-13) quarterfinal victory over Jessica McGuire and Ella Gray of the United States. 

 

The other Canadian team, Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau, also won firmly over Paola Alvarado and Danna Aguilar of Guatemala, 2-0 (21-16, 21-9).

 

Nicaraguans Socorro López and Valeska Hernández came from behind to secure a semifinal spot with a 2-1 (17-21, 21-16, 15-10) win over Taylor Buckner and Melanie Valenciana of the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

 

The U.S. duo Jade Race and Devanne Sours reached the semifinals by defeating El Salvador’s Daniela Vigil and Karla Tovar 2-0 (21-13, 21-11). Earlier, Race/Sours finished Pool B undefeated with a win over Costa Rica’s Aliza Aguilar/Crystell Arce, 2-0 (21-12, 21-10).

 

In morning action, Canada’s Amy Ozee/Kaylee Glagau secured the top position in Pool C after defeating Nicaragua’s Socorro López/Valeska Hernández, 2-0 (21-13, 21-10). 

 

In a hard-fought three-set match, Taylor Buckner and Melanie Valenciana from the U.S. Virgin Islands took first place in Pool D by beating Guatemala’s Paola Alvarado and Danna Aguilar 2-1 (19-21, 25-23, 15-7).

 

El Salvador’s Daniela Vigil and Karla Tovar advanced to the quarterfinals as Pool A runners-up after defeating Jamaica’s Petal Smith and Kristina Lumsden, 2-0 (21-12, 21-12). 

In other pool-play action, Costa Rica’s Molina/Sofía V defeated El Salvador’s Funes/Donni, 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) in Group C, while El Salvador’s Guzman/Medina overcame Resau/Yuliana of Nicaragua, 2-1 (17-21, 21-14, 15-6).

 

In the 9th/12th place classification matches, Costa Rica’s Molina/Sofía V defeated fellow Costa Ricans Aguilar/Arce, 2-0 (21-19, 21-18), and El Salvador’s Guzman/Medina beat Jamaica’s Smith/Lumsden, 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
