Two U.S. teams, Guatemala and Canada reach Bonaire’s Women Semifinals
BONAIRE, Bonaire, November 2, 2024.-Race/Crews and Kan/Sours of United
States, Girón/Alvarado of Guatemala and Licht/Roskic of Canada reached
the women’s semifinals of the seventh stage of the 2024 NORCECA Tour in
Bonaire.
In Sunday’s semifinals, Anna Licht and Dana Roskic of Canada go up
against Natalia Girón and Paola Alvarado of Guatemala at 9:00 am,
followed by an all-USA semifinal between Jade Race and Kaely Crews and
Carly Kan and Devanne Sours at 9:45 am.
Jade Race and Kaely Crews of United States moved into semifinals
defeating Dei Padmore/Serena Edwards of Barbados 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).
Earlier on Saturday, Race/Crews took third place in Pool B after
defeating Gabriela Ramirez/María Fernanda Becerra (BON) 2-0 (21-1,
21-3).
Carly Kan and Devanne Sours of United States overpowered Asma
Charles/Kristianna Richards of Trinidad and Tobago by a dominant 21-3,
21-3 in quarterfinals. In the morning session, Kan/Sours beat Cristina
Almeida-Anz and Bennett of the U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-10, 21-7),
finishing first and second place in Pool C respectively.
Guatemala’s Natalia Girón and Paola Alvarado advance to the semifinals
after defeating Cristina Almeida-Anz and Bennett of the U.S. Virgin
Islands 2-0 (21-8, 21-10) in quarterfinals.
Anna Licht and Dana Roskic of Canada reached quarterfinals beating
Guatemala’s Natalia Girón and Paola Alvarado 2-0 (21-16, 21-16) for
first place in Pool B and then advanced to the semifinals with a 21-8,
21-8 victory against Lakisha Hous and Dyveke Brugman of Curaçao who
earlier took third place in Pool C beating Valeria Morales/Danna Arteaga
of Bonaire 2-0 (21-9, 21-6).
In placement matches, Morales/Arteaga defeated Ramírez/Becerra 2-0
(21-11, 21-12), both pairs from Bonaire, and will face Kuijt/Groot on
Sunday for ninth place. Almeida-Anz/Bennett (ISV) defeated
Padmore/Edwards (BAR) 2-1 (22-20, 19-21, 15-8) and will compete for
fifth place against Brugman/Hous (CUR), who overcame Charles/Richards
(TTO) in an exciting three-set match 2-1 (21-15, 19-21, 15-11). Trinidad
and Tobago will face Barbados for seventh place.
