Two USA duos, Canada-B and Costa Rica-A open strong at Tavares

 

   

TAVARES, Florida, USA, September 11, 2015. - Kimberly Dicello/Kendra Vamzwieten and Delaney Knudsen/Katie Spieler of United States, along with Megan Nagy/ Marie Lapointe of Canada-B and Costa Rica’s Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro had strong performances at opening day of the 5th stop of the NORCECA BVB 2015 Tour at the Hickory Point Beach Sand Volleyball Complex in Tavares, Florida.

 

In Pool A, Kimberly Dicello/Kendra Vamzwieten of USA-A began the day defeating Jace Pardon/Vanessa Freire of USA-C by 2-0 (21-11, 21-18) followed by their victory over Nyota Peters/Rosemarie Simon of Antigua and Barbuda by 2-0 (21-13, 21-8).

 

Kimberly Dicello returns to the Continental Tour now pairing up with Kendra Vamzwieten who won the gold at Bavaro this year. Dicello won three gold medals in last year’s edition with Tealle Hunkus.

 

Delaney Knudsen and Katie Spieler of USA-B prevailed over Canada’s A team of Rachel Cockrell/Camille Saxton in three sets (20-22, 21-15, 15-13), and then over Ivonne Soler and Laura Molina of El Salvador by 2-0 (21-10, 21-12) in Pool B matches.

 

Bronze medalists in Varadero, Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro of Costa Rica in Pool C, managed to take down 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) Kristina Pellitieri/Julie Brown of USA-D and fellow country woman  Katherine Quesada/Eugenia Ramirez by 2-0 (21-19, 21-11).

 

Megan Nagy and Marie Lapointe of Canada-B in Pool D, dominated Trinidad and Tobago’s Ayana Dyette/Malika Davidson by 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) and Mexico’s Zaira Orellana/Stephanie Burnside with 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) victory.

 

Saturday’s actions start with the conclusion of pool-play matches, followed by the quarterfinals to determine the Sunday’s semifinalists.
