U18 Pan Am Cup to start in Durango
DURANGO, Mexico, May 20, 2019 – The fifth edition of the U18
Girls’ Volleyball Pan American Cup will take place in Durango,
Mexico from May 21 to 26 with teams battling for two tickets
available to the age-group FIVB World Championship in Egypt.
The participants seeded in Pool A are Chile, Dominican Republic,
Honduras and host Mexico while Peru, Puerto Rico, Cuba and
Guatemala will compete in Pool B. Peru is already qualified to
Egypt.
The pool winners following a round-robin competition will
advance directly to the semifinal phase and the teams placed
second and third will face in crossed matches in the
quarterfinals.
According to regulations, the top team from NORCECA
Confederation will get an automatic ticket to the world
championship with the second one going to the top ranked team
regardless its confederation of origin. Peru and Chile belongs
to the South American Confederation and the other six to NORCECA.
The United States and Canada are NORCECA teams already qualified
to the world championship as winners and runners-up of last year
Continental Championship held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Argentina, Brazil and Peru are the CSV teams with berths secured
in Egypt.
