U20 and U21 Continental Championships are postponed
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 25, 2020 – NORCECA
Confederation announced the postponement of the U20 (women) and
U21 (men) Continental Championships scheduled to be held in
Edmonton, Canada on May 10-20 due the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision to postpone these events was adopted in conjunction
with Volleyball Canada due to the restrictions on travel and the
ban imposed to mass gathering and social distance.
NORCECA, of course, looking to the future with optimism, is
working closely with Volleyball Canada and the organizers to
reschedule the events, which are qualifiers to the age-group
FIVB World Championships on 2021, when those conditions are
removed.
“NORCECA will continue to evaluate the status of each event on a
case-by-case basis, working in close collaboration with the
respective National Federations event organizers, as well as the
national health authorities in each country”, reads the circular
letter to all National Federations.
NORCECA recognizes that COVID-19 is a worldwide concern and,
therefore, it is likely that there will be further changes in
our volleyball calendar.
Should there be any additional changes to the event calendar,
all stakeholder will be informed as soon as possible.
Recently NORCECA announced the postponement of the first three
events of beach volleyball scheduled in Aguascalientes, Mexico,
Varadero, Cuba and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. |
