U21 Pan Am Cup (Men) Head Coach Comments

Calgary, Canada, Aug. 04, 2025:  Head coaches are looking forward to the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre in Calgary, Alberta, from August 5 to 10.

Erick Eduardo Hernández, Mexico Head Coach: “We're very excited to be here in Canada participating in this tournament and we have high expectations. We hope the boys perform well, develop their best, and give their all on the court. We also hope they strive to give their all to improve match after match.”

John Stuart, Barbados, Head Coach: “We’re expecting the guys to keep improving after every match because this level (of tournament) is a step up for us.  So I just want the guys to do their best and keep improving as the tournament goes on. This competition prepares us for our regional tournament.”

Gerardo De Jesús Sánchez, Puerto Rico, Head Coach, “We are preparing for the World Championship in China in less than two weeks. I have some new faces in this team, so it’s important to give them experience playing together. I also have some players who are injured, so that’s another challenge for our team.”

Alvaro Del Campo Guzmán, Chile, Head Coach, “We're very happy to be participating in this version of the U21 Pan American Cup. We had some difficulties before coming, but the important thing is that we were able to make it anyway. We're looking forward to gaining experience in this important international competition, so we hope it's a good competition for us and a great competition overall.”

Chris Voth, Canada, Head Coach: “We have a really strong group coming into the tournament, and a bunch of new guys who haven’t played for the National Team before, so it will be a really good experience for them to represent Canada and show us what they can do on the world stage.

“I hope we can take some energy from the crowd and that the players’ families can come watch. It’s great to be playing at home.”

John Hawks, USA, Head Coach: “Our expectation is to come here and win. … We are preparing our best here for the World Championship team and rounding out our roster. We have six guys that are already at the Worlds and we are picking six more guys from this tournament.

“We’re fortunate to be here and thank you to Volleyball Canada for hosting us.”
