US Virgin Islands qualify to Inter-Zonal NORCECA Continental Cup
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, April 28, 2019. - The U.S. Virgin
Islands qualified to the Inter-Zonal Men’s NORCECA Continental
Cup, the second phase of the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup
qualifier to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, beating Cayman
Islands 2-0 at the CAZOVA zonal phase.
The men’s series between the U.S. Virgin Islands and Cayman
Islands, the second and third CAZOVA ranked teams, where the
number one seeds faced each other followed the second seeds
contests, was held during the second stop of the NORCECA Beach
Volleyball Tour in Cayman Islands in beautiful Seven Mile Beach.
The first tandem to contribute with the winning side was Marc
Lomeli and Austin Pippen who had difficulties in the second set
after an overwhelming first set, beating Casey Santamaria and
Jesse Parhan 2-0 (21-9, 23-21).
Brian Kwasny and Gabriel Ospina followed winning to Richard
Campbell and Nathan Dack with another straight set victory 2-0
(21-11, 21-13).
US Virgin Islands joins Trinidad and Tobago who is already
qualified to the second phase of the NORCECA Continental Cup as
the number one seed in CAZOVA.
