US women's duo wins gold in Punta Cana
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, October 4, 2024.- Americans Xolani Hode
and Alexis Durish defeated the Canadian duo of Amy Ozee and Kaylee
Glagau 2-0 (21-7, 21-16) on Friday to claim the gold medal at the fifth
stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour held at Los Corales beach
in Punta Cana.
Americans Mariah Whalen/Molly Phillips took bronze by defeating T'ara
Austin/Taylor Buckner of the Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-6, 21-13).
In fifth place were Sophia Hladyniuk/Abbey Thorup (CAN) who beat
Dominicans Darlenys Olivo/Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-8, 21-13), while in
seventh place were Laura Molina/Aliza Aguilar (CRC) after beating
Daniela Vigil/Karla Tovar (ESA) 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-8).
Nahima Silva/Lolette Rodriguez of Nicaragua defeated Karla
Ramirez/Nallelin Taveras (DOM) 2-1 (22-20, 17-21, 15-13) to finish
ninth, while eleventh place went to Amanda Drik/Mileidy Paret of Cuba
who defeated Amanda Robinson/Joanna Robinson (CAY) 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).
Thirtieth place went to Ana Arevalo/Danna Aguilar (GUA) who defeated
Kristina Lumsden/Petal Smith (JAM) 2-0 (21-14, 21-11).
