(25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20) in their Pool B match on Sunday,
with Matt Anderson scoring a game-high 19 points, ably supported
by Murphy Troy (16) and Aaron Russell (13).
USA Captain Paul Lotman: "To me it felt like a similar match to
last night. We had a strong start in the first two sets and were
playing really well. Iran played better in the third set. We
lost our focus. Fortunately we recovered and regained the
momentum and finished the match in four.”
In Botevgrad, hosts Bulgaria earned a much needed win, turning
their match around against previously unbeaten Canada 3-2
(21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-9) on Sunday evening at the
Botevgrad Arena.

beat Serbia 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22) in
their Pool A match, Belgium continued their recent dominance
over Finland with a 3-1
(29-27, 23-25, 25-16, 25-10) win in Pool E,
and in Pool D Czech
Republic overcame a two-set deficit to beat Japan 3-2 (22-25,
20-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-11) and France
beat Korea 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21). |
