USA Remains Unbeaten at U17 Pan American Cup

with Win over Puerto Rico

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, August 5, 2026. – The United States defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-17) to remain unbeaten at the Boys’ U17 Pan American Cup, being held at the Multi-Sport Dome in Guatemala City.

The United States set the tone from the opening points with an effective offense and solid net play to comfortably claim the first set.

The second set was more competitive, with Puerto Rico putting up a stronger challenge. However, the Americans regained control in the closing stages through their offense to extend the match lead. A notable statistic from the set was that both teams committed six service errors.

Puerto Rico opened the third set with several unforced errors, allowing the United States to build an early cushion. The Americans managed the advantage comfortably and closed out the match in straight sets.

With the victory, the United States improved to a 2-0 record, while Puerto Rico dropped to 0-2. On the final day of Pool B play on Thursday, the United States will face Canada at 2:00 p.m., while Puerto Rico will take on Mexico at 4:00 p.m.

The United States led all team statistics, holding advantages of 37-23 in attacks, 6-2 in blocks, and 4-2 in service aces. Puerto Rico committed 15 service errors, while the United States finished with 13.

Logan Flores of the United States and Alejandro Guadalupe of Puerto Rico shared match-high scoring honors with 10 points each.

United States libero Collin Tullis said, "I thought we finished the match pretty well. Yesterday we played a good five-set match against Mexico, and today we wanted to come out strong with good passing and serving. We weren't at our best in those areas yesterday, but I thought we did a good job getting back to that today."

Puerto Rico libero Adrián Figueroa said, "We didn't play our best match, but that's part of sports. Now we have to get ready for tomorrow's match, a new day with new expectations."
