USA Van Gunst and Lindstrom win Gold at Cayman Islands

SEVEN MILE BEACH, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, November 13, 2022.- Teegan Van Gunst and Katie Lindstrom of United States won the Gold Medal over Puerto Ricans Allanis Navas/María González 2-1 (21-19, 13-21, 15-11) at Cayman Islands beach tournament, the seventh stage of the NORCECA Tour.

Teegan Van Gunst and Katie Lindstrom finish the season with three medals, two golds (Managua and Cayman Islands) and a silver medal in Hato Mayor where they lost to Navas/Allanis. The Puerto Rican duo end the season with one gold and two silvers (La Paz and Cayman Islands).

On their way to the gold medal match, Van Gunst and Lindstrom beat Dominicans Bethania Almanzar and Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-9, 21-19).

Allanis Navas and María González prevailed 2-0 (21-6, 21-10) in semifinals over Canadians Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger who then went on to win the bronze medal to Almanzar/Paniagua 2-0 (21-12, 21-18).

Harnett/Bélanger won back-to-back bronze medals (Hato Mayor and Cayman Islands), their third bronze of the season (Punta Cana); they finished second in Managua, for an overall four medals in a row.

In other results, Molley McBain/Lea Monkhouse of Canada finished fifth over Yvonne Soler/Sofía Velásquez of El Salvador 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) and Ileann Powery/Jessica Wolfenden of Cayman Islands beat Ximena Núñez/Isabela Rodríguez of Costa Rica 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) for seventh place.

In the match for nineth place, Mexicans Abril Flores/Esperanza Albarran defeated Heather Thompson/Stefania Gondolfi of Cayman Islands 2-0 (21-13, 21-10), while eleventh place went to U.S. Virgin Islands of Amber Bennett/Cristina Almeida-Anz 2-0 (21-17, 21-8) against Allen/Lake of St. Kitts and Nevis.
