USA advance to FIVB U18 World Championship quarterfinals
ISMAILIA, Egypt, September 10, 2019 – USA advanced to the
quarterfinals of the FIVB U18 Girls’ World Championship
after defeating Egypt 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-17) on Tuesday.
Jessica Mruzik scored 18 points, including three aces and
two blocks, to lead the winners. Devyn Robinson added 8
points in the victory.
Meanwhile, Puerto Rico and Canada were defeated by Italy and
Brazil and now are relegated to compete for the 9-16
positions.
Puerto Rico lost to Italy 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-21). Italy
dominated in attacks (31-15), blocks (6-4) and aces (8-5).
The winners committed 27 errors compared to 30 by the
losers.
Brazil swept Canada 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19). Brazil had a
slight edge in attacks (23-22) and led in blocks (11-7) and

Mexico defeated Cameroon 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-20), while
