USA and Canada claim wins at Men’s World Cup
FUKUOKA, Japan, October 6, 2019 – Mitchell Stahl scored 10
points as the United States defeated Tunisia 3-0 (25-10,
25-18, 25-17) at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup on
Sunday.
The Americans improved their win-loss record in the
twelve-team round robin to 4-1.
USA coach John Speraw: "I
thought Joshua Tuaniga and Ben Patch played well today. Josh
is a talented setter and Ben is an opposite with a bright
future. He is an exciting player. It is good to get them
playing time against meaningful opponents."
In Nagano, Canada earned back-to-back victories, recovering
from one set down to defeat Australia 3-1 (18-25, 28-26,
25-20, 25-22) at Nagano White Ring arena.
Stephen Timothy Maar scored 24 points as the best Canadian.
Brendan Barnes and Sharone Vernon-Evans each contributed 10
points as Canada improved to 2-3.
