USA and Canada win at Hiroshima
Hiroshima, Japan, October 9, 2019 – Aaron Russell scored a
match-high 18 points as the United States defeated Iran 3-1
(25-18, 22-25, 25-18, 25-12) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on
Tuesday.
USA captain Micah Christenson: "We are very happy with the
win. Iran plays a unique and fast and beautiful style of
volleyball. We were strong in the first set. In the third
and fourth sets we responded with efforts plays and our
service was better.
Also in Hiroshima, Sharone
Vernon-Evans scored 23 points as Canada beat Tunisia 3-2
(20-25, 25-20, 27-29, 25-20, 15-12) on Wednesday.
Canada player Sharone Vernon-Evans: “We’re just happy that
we came out and won it in five sets. Everyone can play on
our team. We need guys to step up and play well. My job is
to score any way that I can."
