USA and Dominican Republic among top-10 female teams
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 31, 2016 – United
States and Dominican Republic remain as the two NORCECA
countries among the top-ten list of FIVB Senior world rankings
following the conclusion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Olympic bronze medalists United States dropped from the top to
the second spot while the Dominican Republic fell from seventh
to ninth place after missing the Rio Games.
Puerto Rico (15) and Canada (19) are the other teams from
NORCECA Confederation included among the top-20.
China moved two places up to first place after a phenomenal gold
medal finish in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, which also
positioned them at the top of the ranking table.
Olympic silver medalists Serbia moved three places up to become
world No.3 – their highest ever position in the ranking.
Meanwhile, Argentina and Puerto Rico moved two places up in the
ranking to claim No.10 and No.15 positions, respectively.
