MATSUMOTO, Japan, August 24, 2015 – Reigning world champions the United States swept China 3-0 here Monday evening in a repeat of the 2014 FIVB World Championship final match.

Recovering from an upset full-set loss to Serbia the night before, the American women collected the 25-23, 25-17 and 25-23 victory and improved their win-loss record to 2-1.

The Chinese women, who had lost to the American team 3-1 to finish runners-up in last year’s World Championship, had their two-game winning streak snapped.

In Tokyo, the Dominican Republic hitters prevailed in a tight scoring contest against Argentina 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15) to claim their second victory.
