RIMINI, Italy, June 8, 2021 – United States
concluded the third round of the FIVB Women’s
Volleyball Nations League with a perfect 9-0
record after defeating Italy 3-1 (25-18, 25-21,
20-25, 25-16) on Tuesday.
The Americans are the only undefeated team and
are sitting atop of the standings of the 16-team
tournament.
The United States side held slight advantages in
blocks (9-8) and serves (7-6) while committing
19 errors to 22 by the Italians. The winners
dominated in attacks 57-47.
Andrea Drews and Michelle Bartsch-Hackley led
United States with 20 and 19 points,
respectively, while Foluke Akinradewo and Kelsey
Robinson each contributed 11 tallies. Haleigh
Washington chartered 9 points.
Giulia Melli and Marina Lubian each had 12
points for Italy while Sofia D’Odorico added 11.
