USA are the only undefeated team in VNL

CONEGLIANO VENETO, Italy, May 29, 2019 – Defending champions USA won a thrilling roller coaster match against host Italy 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-11) to remain as the only undefeated team after five outings in the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.

Madison KIngdon Rishel scored 19 points as one of four Americans who reached double figures in the scoring sheets. Simone Lee (13), Chiaka Ogbogu (12) and Andrea Drews (10) were the other strong offensive contributors to the win.

Indre Sorokaite led Italy with a match-high 22 points while Elenea Pietrini and Miryam Fatime Sylla each had 14 points in the loss.

The United States (5-0) conclude the second round on Thursday playing NORCECA opponent Dominican Republic (2-3) while Italy (4-1) meets Serbia (3-2).
