USA are top ranked in Pool B

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2018 – United States captured first place in Pool B of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup after defeating Puerto Rico in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-14) on Tuesday.

 

The United States finished with a 2-1 record and 11 points while Puerto Rico and Cuba also concluded with 2-1 marks but with only 8 points. Puerto Rico ranked second with a better point ratio of 1.028 (249-242) than Cuba’s 0.955 (234-245).

 

Simone Lee and Sara Wilhite registered 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the United States while Chiaka Ogbogu chipped in with 10 points.

 

Noami Santos and Pilar Marie Victoria each scored 8 points as the best Puerto Ricans in the attack.

 

The United States outscored Puerto Rico 12-1 in blocks and 9-3 in aces. Both teams scored the same number of spikes with 32.
