HONG KONG, China, July 16, 2015 - In a match filled with long
rallies and great defensive performances on both sides of the
net USA used their height and strength advantage to edge past
Japan 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 26-24) in Pool H of the FIVB World
Grand Prix.
The Americans outscored their opponents 9-6 in the blocking
category and 9-4 in serving aces.
Kimberly Hill and Christa Harmotto led the scoring for USA with
15 and 12 points, respectively, while Sarina Koga and Miyu
Nagaoka had 13 and 12 for Japan.
In Stuttgart, Germany, hosts Germany won the first match of Pool
I in straight sets 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-18) over Dominican
Republic.
Maren Brinker led Germany to the win as the best scorer with 12
points, while Erasma Moreno had eight points in the loss. |
