USA dominate Kenya, Japan defeats Dominican Republic
HAMMAMATSU, Japan, September 14, 2019
- The
U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team opened the FIVB World
Cup by over-powering Kenya 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 on Saturday
in Hamamatsu, Japan.
Opposite Annie
Drews led
Team USA with 14 points. Outside hitter Jordan
Larson chipped
in 12 points and outside hitter Kelsey
Robinson contributed
12 points.
In Yokohama, Japan defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1
(25-21, 25-11, 24-26, 25-14) behind the offensive
contributions of Sarina Kogi and Yuku Ishi who scored 28 and
21 points, respectively.
Jineiry Martínez led the Dominicans with 12 points, followed
by Bethania de la Cruz and Brayelin Martínez with 11 apiece
and Gaila González who tallied 10 points.
