USA improve to 3-1, Canada stands at 1-3 in World Cup
FUKUOKA, Japan, October 5, 2019 – Matthew Anderson scored a
match-high 23 points as the United States defeated Poland
3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 24-26, 27-25) at the FIVB Volleyball
Men’s World Cup on Friday.
Maxwell Holt scored 12 points as the United States beat
Japan 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-21) on Saturday improving to a
3-1 record.
In Nagano, Iran claimed their first win on Friday with
Aliasghar Mojarad top-scoring with 15 points as they came
from behind to beat Canada 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-19)
at Nagano White Ring Arena.
On Saturday, Canada fought for its first win holding off
Egypt 3-2 (27-25, 27-25, 16-25, 22-25, 15-9). Canada’s
Captain Nicholas Hoag contributed 20 points, including five
aces, in today’s effort.
