DURANGO, Mexico, September 28, 2021 - The United
States advanced to the semifinals of the FIVB
U-18 Girls' Volleyball World Championship by
edging Turkey in five sets 3-2 (19-25, 25-23,
22-25 , 25-21, 15-9) on Monday.
McKenna Wucherer led four Americans who scored
in double figures with 16 points, followed by
Devin Kahahawai with 14 and Chloe Chicoine and
Rebekah Allick with 13 and 12, respectively.
The United States will face Italy, the winner of
Romania in straight sets, in their semifinal
match.
In Round 9-16 matches, Slovakia defeated Canada
3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-11) and Argentina
beat Mexico 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15).
Alexandra Fricova was the best for Slovakia with
13 points. Lauryn Hovey and Olivia Boulding had
12 and 11 for Canada, respectively.
Agustina Campanella scored 16 points to lead
Argentina, and Valentina Vaulet and Avril Garcia
followed with 13 each. Aime Topete had 16 points
as the best Mexican scorer and Sara Cantu added
