USA repeat as champions of women’s VNL
NANJING, China, July 7, 2019 – The United States have repeated
as champions of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League after
a mouth-watering victory in five sets over Brazil on Sunday.
Andrea Drews scored a match-high 33 points as the main offensive
weapon of the American team in the spectacular come-from-behind
victory 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13).
Kelsey Robinson and Haleigh Washington contributed 15 and 10
points, respectively, in the victory as USA dominated in attacks
73-58.
Gabi Guimaraes and Lorenne Geraldo each scored 20 points for
Brazil while Mara Ferreira added 15.
In the match for the bronze medal, China defeated Turkey 3-1
(25-23, 25-15, 20-25, 25-21).
Yanhan Liu and Xiangyu Gong led China with 23 and 20 points,
respectively, while Ebrar Karakurt led all the scorers with 31
points for Turkey. |
