TOKYO, Japan, August 6, 2021 – United States
advanced to the gold medal match of the women’s
volleyball tournament of Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Games with a solid 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-23)
victory over Serbia on Friday night.
The Americans, who are seeking for their first
ever Olympic title, will play the gold medal
match against the winner of the contest between
Brazil and South Korea.
Both teams committed 17 unforced errors but the
Americans had the upper hand in attacks (40-32)
and blocks (12-8) while blanking the opponents
6-0 in aces.
Andrea Drews and Jordan Larson led United States
with 17 and 15 points, respectively, while
Tijana Boskovic finished with 19 points for
Serbia.
In the other semifinal, Brazil defeated South
Korea 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) and will go
against United States for the gold medal.
South Korea and Serbia will battle for the
bronze. |
