KRAKOW, Poland, July 4, 2015 - USA secured the leader position
in pool B, winning 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23) over Poland
in their last encounter in the 2015 World League
Intercontinental Round.
Both teams are through to the Final Six in Rio in earlier stages
of the tournament and were fighting today for the top spot in
their pool. Thomas Jaeschke led USA with 19 points and Rafal
Buszek had 18 points for Poland.
In Friday’s action, Poland defeated USA for the first time in
this year’s World League, qualifying to the Final Six in Rio de
Janeiro with a five-set victory by 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 21-25,
25-20, 15-12).
Bartosz Kurek was the home crowd’s hero of the night topping the
scorers’ chart of the match with 21 points. Taylor Sander and
Matthew Anderson led USA with 17 and 16 points, respectively. |
