USA undefeated in four outings at FIVB World Cup
HAMAMATSU, Japan, September 18, 2019 – USA defeated the
Netherlands 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19) in the second match on
the fourth day of the FIVB Women’s World Cup at Hamamatsu
Arena on Wednesday.
Jordan Larson and Kelsey Robinson each had 16 points for
Team USA. The Americans remain undefeated at 4-0.
USA coach Karch Kiraly: "This team we played today, the
Netherlands, is a really good team. They impressed us a lot,
especially in their win against Brazil. We always expect a
great battle from them. They have some special offensive
weapons, especially their opposite, the No. 10 [Lonneke
Sloetjes] who’s always difficult to try and block and
defend.
In Yokohama, China beat the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-19,
25-21, 25-19) and coach Lang Ping said preparation for the
opponent’s veteran players was key to the win.
China is undefeated in four outings, while the Dominican
Republic dropped to a 2-2 mark.
Zhu Ting led China with 20 points. Jineiry Martínez and
Bethania de la Cruz led the losers 10 and 9, respectively.
“We made full preparation for today’s match,”
Lang Ping said “The
Dominican Republic has many experienced players, so we
focused on that."
Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: "We had some good
moments today. We were aggressive with serve and reception.
China’s quick play and defense gave us trouble. When you
play matches like this, you need to be 100 percent."
