RIMINI, Italy, June 19, 2021 – Jordan Larson
scored 19 ponts to lead five American players in
double figures as United States defeated Russia
3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-23, 25-15) on Saturday,
the penultimate day of the preliminary round at
the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.
Haleigh Washington (18), Andrea Drews (17),
Kelsey Robinson (16) and Chiaka Ogbogu (11) also
contributed heavily to the 14th victory of
United States without losses.
Arina Fedorovtseva led Russia with 14 points,
followed by Nataliya Gonchareva and Irina
Vonkorova each with 13 points and Irina Koroleva
with 10. Russia dropped to 8-6.
The Americans had the advantage in blocks 10-9
and also in service winners 13-3. They made 18
errors compared to 17 by the Russians. The
winners held the margin in attacks 60-56.
The United States close their participation in
the preliminary phase as they meet China on
Sunday. |
